Why paediatric first aid is essential

Paediatric first aid is crucial for anyone who works with children or provides care for them. Children are accident-prone and can easily harm themselves while playing with others or through not gauging risks properly in their environment.

Being able to respond correctly to children who need first aid will help to both deescalate the situation and provide the child with the care they need. Through basic life support, you can ensure children remain in a stable and comfortable position while specialist medical help arrives.

What you will learn on this course

OFSTED have set regulations in place for first aid in the paediatric setting. Mostly, it based around if you are required to register. For most cases, a full Paediatric First Aid (2 Day) training course would be needed for compliance with the regulations. Blended options are available.

  1. Legislation and regulations regarding child first aid
  2. Unconscious child, heart attack and CPR
  3. Managing a choking child, airway blockages
  4. Severe bleeding, shock, burns
