For a few years, we have been working within our local community to try to give a little bit back. We appreciate that sometimes what is more important than providing a direct donation is giving our skills and our time, and we are always happy to do this. Here’s a short case study on how we have helped a local group helping to deliver an amazing project.
- The group: Coggeshall Big Park Project Fundraising Group:
- Their objective: Raise £67,000 to deliver the final stage of the Big Park Project – a plan to create an exciting, inclusive and safe playground:
- Their requirements: Training and support for fundraising events
Coggeshall Big Park Project Fundraising Group has been working hard to raise money to deliver the Big Park Project. This is a plan to completely upgrade the playground in Coggeshall Recreation Ground. The group is made up of a number of individuals from a range of backgrounds, but none of them had any up to date first aid or food hygiene training.
With lockdown, many of their events had to be cancelled but they still managed to organise a Make & Grow Show with an Eco Fair in September. To maximise the funds they would take, they wanted to prepare all of the food at a cake stall and serve it themselves. We provided them with a Level 2 Food Hygiene Training Course that went above and beyond the council’s requirements. We also ran through all of the plans for the event, helped advise them on the risk assessment and then acted as their first aiders on the day. One of the group had produced a careful plan that we reviewed and it was an excellent example of how events can be run safely despite everything going on.
The event was a success, with the group raising over £2,700! Furthermore, it went off without a hitch. It was beautifully sunny, the food was delicious and it was a safe event. With changes to the guidelines around COVID and socialising changing the following day, there had been a concern that many people would back out but the community came out in support of the group. Furthermore, there were masks and hand sanitiser on offer, and social distancing had been thought through carefully with the layout of the stalls. It could not have gone any better and we were delighted to be part of it.

We love helping local community groups and supporting them where we can. Hopefully, as things start to return to normal we will be able to do even more. If you know of a local group that might need our help, whether it is with infection control training, first aid support or any other kind of bespoke training, then get in touch and we would be happy to chat.
