We offer health and safety open courses as well as our corporate courses. These open courses are available to anyone – whether you want to learn a skill to try and get a new job, or you want to be able to help someone if a situation ever arises. We deliver these courses across Essex, Suffolk and London but also can arrange them in other areas if there is the demand.

With our open courses, you can book a single place or multiple places. These courses are designed for people who don’t want or need a group course, may be coming along with a friend or partner or those who simply want to learn new skills for themselves or their career. In this current climate, infection control has become a serious subject. The coronavirus pandemic is an example of how infections can cause a lot of damage. Luckily, Public Health England and World Health Organisation have got a few ideas they have shared with us
This course will let you:
- Understand how infection moves and spreads
- Know about the most common infections
- Learn how to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) stop infection
- Implement a few procedures to stay safe

Book this courseHealth and Safety Basics (HSB) is an abridged course for compliance with the Health and Safety Executive and legislation, concentrating on the employee. This is a good qualification for industries with high volume recruitment, such as manual labour or unskilled job roles.
This course aims to help you to:
- Understand why health and safety is needed in the workplace
- Understand what is covered in hazards and risks in the workplace
- Understand the benefits and of health and safety in the workplace
- Identify and highlight the importance of workplace health and safety procedures

Manual Handling Skills looks at elements risk assessment, minimising risk, and compliance with Manual Handling Operations Regulations (MHOR) 1992 (as amended). Health and Safety Executive strongly recommend refreshing course knowledge and skill every year.
- Understand the importance of manual handling in the workplace
- Understand how manual handling risk assessments can improve workplace health and safety
- Understand the types of manual handling equipment and testing requirements associated with manual handling safety
- Apply and demonstrate safe manual handling techniques

This training course is designed to meet the criteria of responsibility asked by the Health and Safety Executive under Manual Handling Regulations (MHOR) 1992, as well as the Care Quality Commission principles of safe care. Please note: the training does not cover hoist competency
This course will fulfil the learning outcomes of:
- Understand the relevant legislation and regulations that apply to manual handling in health and social care
- Understand and identify the potential injury and harm that can be caused by mishandling people and equipment
- Understand how the body works and moves during manual handling
- Safely demonstrate moving and positioning techniques according to current and up to date knowledge

Book this courseWorking at heights training is a legal requirement. In order to prove competence in working with ladders and step ladders as well as harness systems, employers are expected to train and instruct employees safely.
This course will give you:
- The key laws in working at heights
- Instruction in the most common safety equipment used
- Instruction on using harnesses and other rigging kits
- Assessing working at height risk
- Emergency procedures and first aid
